🚢 About the Cape May–Lewes Ferry
The Cape May–Lewes Ferry connects Cape May, NJ and Lewes, DE, carrying more than 800 passengers and 100 vehicles per sailing across the Delaware Bay. Operating up to 14 trips per day, it’s one of only two ferry routes in the U.S. that extends a numbered highway — Route 9 — across a body of water.
Our fleet includes three Motor Vessels — the Cape Henlopen, Delaware, and New Jersey — along with the Delafort, which operates the seasonal Forts Ferry Crossing between Delaware City, Fort Delaware, and Fort Mott, NJ. The service is managed by the Delaware River and Bay Authority (DRBA), which also operates the Delaware Memorial Bridge and several regional airports.
